Our 29th season begins August 2012
SummerArts is organized as a series of multi-disciplinary workshops for children entering Grades 3 to 9 who have a keen interest in the visual and performing arts. The program is staffed by artists from the visual and performing fields who are committed to their art and working with young people. The atmosphere is always friendly, CREATIVE and FUN!
TWO-WEEK PROGRAMS
Program I: for kids entering grades 3-6
Program II: for kids entering grates 7-9
Projects: will include painting and drawing, 3-D construction, music and movement, West African drumming, drama, acting for film, weaving and textile art, ceramic and mosaic art. Program I (for children entering grades 3-6) includes four one-hour workshops each day led by artists from different disciplines. Program II (for older children) offers more intensive workshops each day, creating opportunities for more sophisticated projects. Family and friends are invited to enjoy all the creative investigations on the final day of the workshops. Participation in the entire two-week program is encouraged.
Enrollment: Approx 40-50 children (split into 4 groups). Each of the younger groups in Program I is accompanied by a counselor.
Dates: August 20-24 and August 27-31
Hours: 9-2pm (with snack and lunch breaks)

Place: First Reformed Church, Hastings-on-Hudson
2011 Fees: $315 per child per week. A RiverArts Family membership is required and must be current at registration and throughout the camp season.
Early bird and 2012 fees will be announced this spring.
Program Director, Helen Elliott is an artist and teacher who has shaped the SummerArts Workshops experience over numerous seasons. Helen is Head Teacher and art specialist at Good Shepherd Early Childhood Center in Irvington. She has worked with children K-7 and adults through various organizations including The Irvington Children's Center, Westchester Community College, WAEYC Workshops, RiverArts. She also teaches art classes for students in her private studio at 145 Palisade Street, Dobbs Ferry.
